Taku River Salmon: Or "Salmon-Salmon" in Tlingit Tongue?

Last night's dinner, found at Costco, grilled slowly on the green egg.....

One account of the "Taku" name says it means salmon, but Wikipedia says it translates into "Geese Flood Upriver Tribe".


In any case, it tasted very good. Mild, light a super pale peach color.

It was a rainy Friday night at home.........

We had had a long week...... we decided to treat ourselves...... maybe not the most natural food and wine pairing, but with the garlic and sunny flavors it worked for us:
Halibut with a fresh artichoke, caper, onion sauté and potatoes and white asparagus…..yum!
My favorite guy…….with a glass of wine. Cheers!

Grand Cru Owners Host their Tasting Group for the first event at Grand Cru Wine Shop

Against all odds, the first event occurred at Grand Cru Wine Bar, for the shop owner’s regular tasting group pre-opening 4-2-09. Open to the public 4-4 @ 11-7pm. 12-4 Grand Cru Complimentary Saturday Drop-In tastings. This group which meets on Thursdays, got the first peek. Turnout was robust, even though monsoon conditions existed. It looked pretty,cozy inside………
