Woodblock restaurant opens early 2016 in downtown Redmond

Redmond couple are owner/operators of future craft cocktail bar & restaurant

For Immediate Release, Redmond WA November 18th 2015:
The renewal of downtown Redmond is creating an even more vibrant, pedestrian-friendly city with the addition of mixed-use complexes, urban park plans and the designation of Cleveland Street as Redmond’s official Main Street. The City of Redmond, already highly rated for walk-ability, plans an “extension of resident living space” between Cleveland Street and Redmond Way in the heart of downtown. The downtown revitalization will stimulate economic activity in the neighborhood, according to the City of Redmond. New businesses have already joined the downtown community, most recently Woodblock, a craft cocktail bar and restaurant is opening in early 2016.
Woodblock’s focus will be a robust craft cocktail program (menu) including house-barrel aged cocktails, classic and creative beverages using fresh, seasonal ingredients and an extensive selection of  spirits. Local distilleries, wineries and breweries will be the spotlight in the  bar, while the kitchen will cook with ingredients that are NW grown, raised, caught and sourced. “The flavors will be big, the menu always evolving, utilizing what is freshest and in season,” explains Tony Scott co-owner/operator.
Woodblock is located in a light-filled corner of the Old Town Lofts building, facing what will be the new downtown park on Cleveland Street.  The restaurant was designed by Atelier Drome, LLP in Seattle, who have designed a fistful of Ethan Stowel’s Restaurants and Michelin Star rated Altura, Nathan & Rebecca Lockwood’s Capitol Hill restaurant.
Tony and Carolyn Scott have lived and been very active in the Redmond community for 17 years; their home is within walking distance of their new restaurant location.  The pair met while working as server and bartender at Seattle’s highly rated Painted Table restaurant in the Alexis Hotel. “Tony has been talking about “the restaurant” for 18 years; we want to create an establishment that is warm and welcoming, energetic and casual, like a dinner party at our home,” says Carolyn.
The restaurant is named, Woodblock, because of Tony and Carolyn’s love of woodblock art. Woodblock printing involves layers of color, much like the layers of flavor in food and cocktails creating a memorable meal. The layering analogy is a reoccurring theme, adding flavor, both literally and figuratively to a lively community. “We are very excited to create another social hub for our town,” says the couple.
About Woodblock:
Founded by Carolyn & Tony Scott in downtown Redmond, WA, Woodblock is a craft cocktail bar and restaurant with approximately 80 seats opening in February of 2016.  It has been their dream to open a neighborhood restaurant in the community in which they reside and work.  Woodblock is the kind of restaurant that draws guests back because of a warm, welcoming atmosphere, excellent food, drink, exceeding expectations. There will be a seasonal patio with an additional 25 seats.
Woodblock is in the newly completed Old Town Lofts building in Downtown Redmond. The restaurant shares the lower level space with Hoffman’s Bakery which is soon to close in Kirkland and slated to reopen in December 2015 next to Woodblock. It is also a block from Tipsy Cow and Matador in central Redmond. There is ample street and retail parking in the building and the heart-of-downtown location is easy to access on foot for local residents.

The owners of the Mayuri Family of Food businesses, a leader in specialty foods in the Seattle Area, have closed their popular Bellevue – (Overlake) restaurant and moved to a freestanding building on Bell-Red Road a few blocks away. The new location, also (Overlake), has a Redmond address. Situated on a prominent corner fronting Bell-Red Road the restaurant is surrounded by a large guest parking lot and a seasonal patio adjacent to the saffron colored building. The 130 seat Indian restaurant and bar opened in mid-September.
“We are happy to have expanded and added a bar: beer, wine and cocktail service are now be available to our loyal customers,” says Ramesh Bachala founder of Mayuri Indian Cuisine. The move allows for a significant upgrade to the dining experience for many day-time tech workers and local Bellevue patrons. The new location also has a larger kitchen and has a contemporary feel. Gobble restaurant owner takes the fear out of turkey prep and other holiday cooking pressures

114 how-to food videos online from Ex- Food Network executive
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — Woodinville, WA October 13th, 2015

Woodinville restaurant owner and concept developer Adam Gold spent the first 30 years of his career in the TV & movie business. His most recent corporate job was at the Food Network in New York, where he was instrumental in programming, marketing and branding of that network. “I am largely to blame for the creation of Iron Chef America and devolution of the network into its current twaddle of silly competition shows that have nothing to do with, you know, food.” confesses Adam.
He quit when he realized what he had done to the network he loved. The corporate coup that followed resulted in an upper management team who announced “they didn't cook and didn't understand people who did”.
Upon returning home to Seattle, he built his own HDTV Kitchen Studio and created the web channel, Foodslinger.tv.
A lineup of 114 videos for home cooks uses common sense, humor and Adam’s many years of experience to demystify some of life’s most vexing food dilemmas. Listen and watch Adam answer common questions based on making all the mistakes himself and figuring out the best solutions.
The next logical step was to stop showing and start doing; consequently Gobble restaurant (established 2012), catering and the Gobble Express food trucks were born.
About Gobble Restaurant:

An early review puts it best: Eating at Gobble is like getting a great big hug from Grandma. There's nothing elevated or deconstructed about our comfort food. Located in the bustling heart of downtown Woodinville, Gobble is a moderately priced, quick service restaurant serving comfort food with a kick. Prepared fresh, from scratch daily, the menu includes a signature Slow Roasted Turkey Dinner Platter with all the fixings, Killer Turkey Chili, Slow Smoked BBQ Brisket and Pulled Pork, as well as made-to-order hand-carved sandwiches and fresh salads. A wide array of sides, beverages and freshly made home-style desserts round out the menu.
Everything is available for Take-out, Dine-In, Group Delivery and Catering. The restaurant features a demonstration kitchen for private or group lessons. Two Gobble food trucks serve the greater and lesser Puget Sound area.
